Set in 2023, the end of days is looming and America is decaying. Stripped of its natural resources the land has been ruined by pollution, while the people are kept in line by a corrupt system that serves only the high-tech elite.
It is a dark time, and hope is a rare commodity - especially as part of the 99% of the population who live in the ravaged urban sprawl known as the NoGo.
Between the cancerous cities that occupy the east and the west coasts, lie what used to be the Red States of America. This is now a lawless land, filled with vicious gangs and all but abandoned by society. But there is a sliver of hope, a new kind of bounty hunter who can bring order where all else has failed: the Sanctioned Operatives.
The fury of the wasteland
And if you think that's bleak just wait, because this is just the beginning of Dark Future: Blood Red States.
You take control of an agency of Sanction Operatives. Strategically managing this team of hardened racers you must equip them with the cars and equipment they need to do their job. Once you see a bounty that you are equipped for - and that offers the right price - you can send your drivers out into the wilds to battle the gangcluts.
Once you have earned your reward, you must choose how to spend it to improve your team. You may choose to upgrade their cars with new items like rocket launchers, or pour your money into transforming your drivers with bionic eyes and other cybernetics.
